Ayako Suzuki(鈴木章子)さんの詩

実は父と、私が大好きなAyako Suzuki(鈴木章子)さんは誕生日が二日違いの同じ年でした。

私の父が1941年5月15日生まれ。彼女が1941年5月17日生まれ。

彼女は遺していく4人の子供達に、次の様な詩(poems)を書きました。

 Nembutsu (お念仏).

My receiving of the Nembutsu,　(お念佛いただいて)

and this joyous life that I have, 　(こんな嬉しい身にさせてもらいました)

is all due to my parents, 　(浄土に先に還えられました　父母のおかげでございます)
who have gone before me 
to the Pure Land.

I too, like my parents, 　(私もまた　近く　父母と同じく)
will become Namuamidabutsu　
for my children and husband,　(愛する愛する　子供達の　お父さんの)　
that I love so dearly.　

To be able to lead others to the Pure Land 　(南無阿弥陀仏になって　この喜びの中に導く身にさせていただきますこと)
is of utmost joy. 　(無上の喜びです)

Namuamidabutsu, Namuamidabutsu　 (ナムアミダブツ　ナムアミダブツ)

Please continue on with the Nembutsu,　 (どうぞ　どうぞ　お念仏の相続)
for it is the only real truth in life. 　(どうぞ　どうぞ　お念仏ひとつでございます)

I will. (私は)


I will become Namuamidabutsu for my children.(私は子供達の 南無阿弥陀仏になります)　


I will become Namuamidabutsu for my friends and temple members(私は友人たちや(お寺の)門信徒の方々の　南無阿弥陀仏になります).


When you think of me, please say Namuamidabutsu, and I will call the Nembutsu in return.(思い出したら　南無阿弥陀仏と呼んで下さい　私はいつも　あなたに南無しています)

親鸞(Shinran Shonin)は、その主著『教行信証(“The True Teaching, Practice, and Realization of the Pure Land Way”)』の最後に、以下の言葉を記しています。

Those who have been born first guide those who come later(前に生まれるものは後のものを導き),

and those who are born later join those who were born before(後に生まれるものは前のもののあとを尋ね).

This is so that the boundless ocean of birth-and-death be exhausted(果てしなくつらなって途切れることのないようにしたいからである。 それは、数限りない迷いの人々が残らず救われるためである).
